TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK: THE LAND OF ELEPHANTS

Tarangire National Park, with its large elephant population and characteristic baobab and acacia trees, offers a unique and fascinating landscape.

It is only a short drive from Arusha and is a popular stopover for travellers on the northern safari route. The park’s diverse habitats, from scrubland to lush swamps, attract a variety of wildlife, including migratory herds of gazelle, wildebeest and zebra.

In the dry season, Tarangire is a paradise for elephants and offers excellent game viewing opportunities against the backdrop of the Masai steppe and southern mountains.

The park’s swamps are a birdwatcher’s paradise, harbouring more than 550 species, including endemic birds such as the yellow-necked parrot. However, Tarangire’s biodiversity is not limited to birds: kori bustards, ostriches and hornbills make a safari a special experience.

The park’s inhabitants, including pythons, lions and leopards, are known to climb trees, demonstrating their adaptability in this unique ecosystem.
