At 4,566 metres, Mount Meru is the second highest mountain in Tanzania and is located in Arusha National Park. It is a beautiful dormant volcano with fertile slopes.
The summit offers a spectacular view over the vast Masai steppe and the Momella Lakes. As the mountain is only slightly lower than Kilimanjaro, it takes less time to reach the summit and the risk of altitude sickness is lower. It is also a good preparation for climbing Kilimanjaro.
Mount Meru is not climbed as much as mount Kilimanjaro, so still there is a big number of animals like the elephants, buffaloes, giraffes and colobus monkeys.
